The
Metro Church values the belief that God expects all believers to
respond to the needs of others through loving service. 1
John 3:16-18
Because we value the Lord's
love shown to us, we seek to follow his example by expressing love
in practical ways. Romans
5:6-8; 1 John 3:16; 4:10
We believe that a mere
belief in love or loving others with words alone will not be enough
on the last day.
Matthew
25:31-46
We also value caring for
fellow believers as this sends a clear message to the world that
we are disciples of Christ. John
13:34,35
We
share the love of Christ by genuinely caring for others. Local help
(benevolence) at Metro is organized to benefit both our church and
our community through such ministries as
"Suppose
a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of
you says to him, 'Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,'
but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the
same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is
dead ."
James 2:15-17
"The
Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give
his life as a ranson for many."
Matthew
20:28
