Dan Holland
"It was he who gave some to be ... pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Ephesians 4:11-13
As an Arizona native who spent a bit of time living in Europe and various places in the Southwestern United States, I gathered many life stories during my childhood and young adult years. I find great pleasure in using these stories to make God's story come alive. My dad was an Air Force weather man who later embraced the call to preach. In dad's shadow I experienced various people, groups, and cultures; I learned how to cross cultural lines with the culture-crossing story of Jesus Christ.
I've spent most of my adult life preaching for the Metro Church until December 31, 2011. It has been amazing and inspiring to watch God move and work through this body of diverse believers whose simple desire is to reflect Christ and serve others in the Central Florida area and in our mission locations throughout the world.
Along with learning lessons about what it means to live by faith from life's many experiences, I have earned a few degrees along the way. I received an Associates of Arts degree from York College in Nebraska, and a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Ministry from Oklahoma Christian University. In addition, as an intern/resident in The Institute of Practical Ministry in Dallas, Texas, I gained some invaluable hands-on training for which I am particularly grateful.
I have always enjoyed most sports. My favorite sports team is usually the one that's winning at the time. I've recently joined my son in Martial Arts training and become reacquainted with my childhood passion of dirt biking. Favorite pastimes I enjoy with my wife, Beth, and our two children, Micah and Ashley include camping, hiking and biking at our beautiful Florida beaches or in the mountains of Georgia.
One of my favorite scriptures is Nehemiah 4:9. I'll admit it is a bit off of the beaten path of most favorite Bible verses. In fact, most would probably find it outright obscure.
"But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat."
Prayer and watchfulness, faith and action describe Nehemiah's response to intimidation and discouragement. Like Nehemiah, each of us has to find balance to contend with real life difficulties as we fulfill God's will for our life.
Although I committed my life to Christ as a young person, I am continually growing in my understanding of the redeeming love of God.
It is my joyful calling in life to make the story of God's revelation of his love and purpose come alive for you.

A Texas boy raised on a farm near Hope, Arkansas, Randy grew up in a strong Christian family who led in their church and helped shape his strong desire to mature and equip followers of Christ.
Since completing the Preston Road School of Preaching and also obtaining his Masters in Ministry, he has served in many different capacities for the past 25 years including youth, worship, education, small groups, preaching, and missions.
He and his family planted a church in Tomsk, Siberia in 1994 that grew from 0 to 90 Christians and which now has 130 members with full time Russian national preachers. For the past four years they worked in Almaty Kazakhstan and saw God grow the church from 15 to 135. They had 121 baptisms and started a school of biblical studies with 26 students enrolled, a ministry to teenage orphans that houses 14 teenagers who have become Christians, and a summer intern program for future missionaries.
Randy and his wife, Sandra, just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. He says, "Sandra and I love to work together as a team. She is my very best friend, and we do a lot of ministry together, and I am grateful to God for the relationship that we have."
Their children have also been very involved in ministry. Andy is married and a senior bible major at Harding. Amber, who graduated from Harding, and Crystal, a sophomore in college, sing together as Shades of Green. Austin is a senior in high school, and Carrie and Caitlyn, who were adopted in Russia and Kazakhstan, are 9 and 3 years old.
Randy enjoys spending time with his family and going to the movies as well as hunting and fishing. He loves to play the guitar and sing, and writes contemporary Christian music as well as country. Randy and his family are really excited about being at Metro and working with the church, and know that the Lord has moved them here. He believes God is "Really Big" and that God is waiting on people to let Him show them just how big He really is.
You can contact him at randygreen@metrocc.org or at (407) 366-7714, ext. 110.
