Beliefs Continued:

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is the active presence of God in the world
John 16:5-15; Acts 1:7-8; Romans 8:26-27

and who indwells every Christian.
1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; 2 Timothy 1:14

We believe in the Bible as God's Holy Word. We believe God inspired the original writings of the Scripture and that they were consequently without error.
Mark 12:36; John 14:26; 16:12-15; Acts 1:16; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:14-16; 2 Peter 1:20-21

We accept the Bible as the final authority for all matters of faith and practice.
Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18; 24:35; Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Corinthians 4:6; 2 John 1:9

We believe the Bible teaches that man, created by God, willfully sinned against God and is consequently lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ.
Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23

We believe the Bible teaches that salvation and the forgiveness of sins is achieved only by grace made possible through the blood of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:9; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John 1:7

We believe the Bible teaches that one receives the gift of salvation through believing in Christ, which leads to repenting of sin, confessing Jesus as Lord, and being baptized into Christ, but that none of these is sufficient in and of itself for the assurance of salvation.
Romans 5:1-2; Luke 24:45-47; Acts 3:19; 17:30; 2 Peter 3:9; Matthew 10:32; Romans 10:9; Philippians 2:11; 1 John 4:15; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-7; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21

We believe that Jesus Christ founded his church on the Day of Pentecost and that it consists of all Christians everywhere.
Matthew 16:13-18; Acts 2:14-47

We believe that Jesus is the Head of the church, his body, and that each Christian is a part of it.
Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22-23; Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:112-13

We believe the Bible teaches that the elders are to exercise authority over the local congregation.
Acts 20:28; Philippians 1:1; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4

Magnify

"Shout for joy to the LORD all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful song." Psalm 100:1-2

Worship the Lord

The Metro Church values the worship of God, the creator of heaven and earth. We value worship that is biblical, relevant, significant, practical and interesting. We hold to the truth that the entirety of a believer's life should be lived as worship to God. Romans 12:1,2

We also hold to the truth that God expects his people to come together regularly for the purpose of worshipping together and encouraging one another in faith. Hebrews 10:25

We believe that there is one God who is the creator of heaven and earth. We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died to save the world and was resurrected from the dead. John 3:16; Romans 1:4; 5:6-8

We believe in the hope of the resurrection from the dead for all disciples of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:35-57; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 2 Corinthians 5:1-5

We believe that salvation is found only through Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the active, invisible presence of Christ who lives within every believer and works to accomplish God's purpose on earth. Acts 2:38, 5:32

Evangelize

"God our Savior wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." 1 Timothy 2:4

Live Out Our Faith

The Metro Church values the soul of every man, woman and child. We believe that the unique responsibility of the church is to proclaim the good news of salvation through Christ and that the church is the only institution on earth that can accomplish this. Matthew 28:18-20

We believe that every believer is responsible before God for reaching out to individuals who are within their circle of influence and sharing with them the fact that a relationship with Jesus Christ means salvation for their souls. We believe that apart from an obedient faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, it is impossible for anyone to be saved.
Acts 4:12; John 8:32; Mark 16:15,16; Romans 10:9; James 2:14-26

Train

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15

Mature Believers through Practical Bible Teaching

The Metro Church values discipleship. Training an individual over a lifetime for meaningful service in the kingdom is our intent. Ephesians 4:12-13

Bible study is seen not as an end in and of itself, but as a means by which every Christian becomes a mature and active participant in the body of Christ. We believe that faith grows as one hears the word of God. Romans 10:17

For this reason, we value every believer having a foundation of biblical understanding, a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ, an understanding of spiritual gifts, and a strong connection to the body of Christ through healthy Christian relationships.

Respond

"I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40

React to Others Needs Through Sharing and Loving Service

The Metro Church values the belief that God expects all believers to respond to the needs of others through loving service. 1 John 3:16-18

Because we value the Lord's love shown to us, we seek to follow his example by expressing love in practical ways. Romans 5:6-8; 1 John 3:16; 4:10

We believe that a mere belief in love or loving others with words alone will not be enough on the last day.
Matthew 25:31-46

We also value caring for fellow believers as this sends a clear message to the world that we are disciples of Christ. John 13:34,35

We share the love of Christ by genuinely caring for others. Local help (benevolence) at Metro is organized to benefit both our church and our community through such ministries as

Oneness

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus." Romans 15:5

Strengthen Relationships Through Fellowship

The Metro Church values Christian fellowship. We believe that God intended people from varying economic, racial, religious, and social backgrounds to come together as one church, under the headship of Jesus Christ. For this reason the Metro Church strives to be open to all. We believe Christ must be held up as the standard for how every believer should conduct their daily lives, allowing for unity among diversity. The fellowship of the Metro Church is rooted in our faith in Jesus Christ and obedience to his commands. 1 John 1:7; Matthew 28:19; Romans 1:17

The Metro Church values Christian friendship. It is recognized that words alone will not result in a strong, lasting fellowship among believers. For this reason, every member is encouraged to lovingly reach out to other brothers and sisters in Christ and invest their time and effort to develop strong Christian relationships. It is hoped that every person can say that they have friends within the Metro family.

The Metro Church values wounded people. It is recognized that people are sometimes hurt by past religious experiences and therefore may have become cynical towards the church and/or disillusioned about their relationship to God and their place in the church. For this reason Metro strives to be a place of refuge and healing.

Oneness is acheived through communication and fellowship. Metro members are informed through our website and email about prayer requests and current events. From recreational teams and 2:42 small groups, to special fellowship events such as Fall Festival, Super Sunday, Memorial Day Picnic, Theater Productions, Christmas program, Children's Easter Program, Mission trips, Women's Retreats and Men's Events, there are many opportunities to get involved in the lives of others. Get Connected.

"A new command I give: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
John 13:35-36

"From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." Ephesians 4:16
